Contemporary societies are facing challenges linked to deep changes, including three transitions: the economic transition, the ecological transition, and the digital transition. The Steen thematic program is how societies interpret and understand the transformations linked to the three transitions, and create systems and economic activities, employment and value. The Steen program is based on an interdisciplinary, international, and innovative approach to be able to understand them well, explain their mechanisms and processes, and propose ambitious solutions. The program collaborates with the UGA Design Factory as part of its thematic schools.
The objective of the Steen thematic program is to train for research through research in the social sciences, and mainly economics, management, sociology and political science. The Steen program is based on an interdisciplinary, international, and innovative approach to be able to understand them well, explain their mechanisms and processes, and propose ambitious solutions.

Master tracks from 4 departments of UGA are affiliated: in management at IAE (UGA business school), in social sciences at Sciences Po Grenoble (IEP), in economics and sociology at FEG and SHS departments (UFRs) and in the Faculty of Law.

The Steen program implies, at master’s level, annual participation in an interdisciplinary and collective research project (4 ECTS) and participation in the two thematic schools and program seminars (2 ECTS awarded for one of them). These activities bring together students from M1 and M2, and credits specific to the STEEN program are delivered on the same activities in both years.
