Mentorship programme for all lecturers and faculty members at Université Grenoble Alpes

Since 2021, we have been running a mentorship program open to all our lecturers and faculty members. This initiative is in keeping with UGA’s professional Gender Equality Action Plan.

What is mentorship?

Mentorship is a professional relationship in which a person, the ‘mentor’, provides guidance to another person, the ‘mentee’. The mentor willingly shares their knowledge and experience to help boost the mentee’s career development.

Mentorship is a voluntary approach by each party, based on the values of sincerity, mutual respect and confidentiality.

Mentorship is one of the forms of medium- and long-term learning offering people a scope of possibilities, expertise and positions. It is based on voluntary action, commitment and confidentiality. In this context, the mentor is an experienced person willing to share their experience and acquisitions to guide a mentee in search of personal and professional fulfillment. Mentorship is thus a form of support, drawing on mutual aid and openness.

The General Directorate of the administration and public service defines mentorship as ‘an interpersonal relationship for support, aid, interaction and learning.’

Mentorship also fulfills the principle required by the European Charter for Researchers as part of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R) label.

How do I apply for mentorship?

This mentorship program is open to all our teaching staff (tenured and under contract) and research faculty.

Applications for the 2023-2024 academic year are now closed.
