Zero tolerance for gender-based violence

What is gender-based violence?

Gender-based violence (GBV) encompasses any act, comments or behaviour of a sexual or gender-based nature imposed on a person by another. There are multiple causes and expressions of this form of violence: comments, behaviour, harassment and attacks.

The common point to all GBV acts is their imposed nature i.e. the person’s consent is neither obtained nor respected.

Sexual violence refers to acts, comments and behaviour involving sexuality, an imposed sexual act, or a violation of body areas identified as sexual (thighs, breasts, buttocks, genital organs, mouth).

Gender-based violence refers to acts, comments and behaviour towards a person on the grounds of their sex or gender identity.

Our engagements

We are committed to preventing GBV, protecting and supporting victims and witnesses of GBV, and to handling reports of GBV.

Reporting gender-based violence at UGA

We have created an online form for students and staff. This form is addressed to staff and students of Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) and its component institutions Grenoble INP-UGA and Ensag-UGA. It should be used to report incidents of GBV, discrimination or harassment, involving oneself or a third party.

Training to identify and address gender-based violence

We offer training and awareness sessions related to this topic, in order to equip our students and staff to encourage responsible behaviour and deal with inappropriate acts.
